It is played upright in your lap with the neck leaning on the left shoulder, and played with a bow like a small bass fiddle. The soundboard is a stretched piece of goatskin similar to what is found on a sarangi and esraj. Includes case. Rosin for bow RSNP sold separately.
NOTE: There is no warranty on the strings shipped on your new instrument. Your instrument has completed a long journey before it ever begins the final leg to you. The strings on your new instrument are tuned, inspected and finally de-tuned for shipment. Environmental and temperature changes may also affect the strings and could shorten their lifespan. It is recommended that you acquire a replacement set and consider changing the strings as soon as, or shortly after, your instrument arrives.
If you are just learning the instrument you may wish to change your strings every couple of months. If you are a professional - then you already KNOW the difference a NEW set of strings can make to the sound and playability of your instrument. Bottom line - your strings should be changed as needed. Enjoy!
